Cardwell wants a divorce from Cassowary Coast .. - The Cairns Post
When alerted to this article, Mayor Bow responded (28 July):
"There is a quote in the Cairns Post regarding Port Hinchinbrook that is attributed to me. I was not interviewed by the Cairns Post so I could not make the comment that I was in favour of a boundary change to encompass Port Hinchinbrook. My Council is not actively pursuing a boundary change. "
Representations had been made to Hinchinbrook Shire Council by Lindsay Hallam (late April or early May, reportedly on behalf of the Cardwell Chamber of Commerce) and the AA New Images Developments Consortium (12 July Tony Dotta, Andrew Du Boulay, Robert Bisetto); with a view to shifting the shire boundary to include the failed "Port Hinchinbrook" canal estate within the Hinchinbrook Shire.
On the question of shifting shire boundaries Mayor Bow said:
"There will be no further considerations unless instructed by an authority to do so. Council would engage in a 'due diligence' for a boundary change, and that may not be favourable."
